Good Employment Charter: Dunsters Farm are Members!
Dunsters Farm are incredibly proud to announce the business has reached the ‘Membership’ tier of the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter, following an extensive assessment into our employment practices, policies, and procedures.
The Good Employment charter’s goal is to raise employment standards throughout the city region and contribute to a thriving & productive economy.
To receive membership status within the charter, Dunsters Farm had to meet the criteria of seven characteristics of Good Employment: Secure Work, Pay, Flexible Work, Engagement & Voice, Recruitment, People Management and Health & Wellbeing.
The business had to go through an extensive assessment with the Charter and its Technical Review Panel, which includes an in-depth evaluation of practices and policies for each of the characteristics, to ensure the high standards are being met and continually improved.
The Charter Membership is a fantastic reflection of the great work Dunsters are doing to improve working practices for our employees through a myriad of tangible benefits, flexible working, engagement, and training, that supports the workforce.
Flexible working has long been a part of Dunsters Farm’s offering, with many staff members working different shift patterns, hours, remote & term-time hours to help match the individual needs of our team.
Gemma White, who works in Purchasing at the firm, said “Dunsters helps me to keep my work/life balance in check, without this flexibility our family life just wouldn’t be the same.”
Whilst for Jo, Customer Account Executive, working term-time for Dunsters Farm has meant creating amazing memories with her family and offering her the best work/life balance.
“Dunsters has treated me as an individual,” said Jo, “Working flexibly with understanding, has meant I can create lasting memories with my family whilst also being a valued and supported member of the workforce.”
Another characteristic that underpins a Good Employment Charter member, is a commitment to training. Dunsters Farm understand that staff development is an area of the business that needs investment, as much as any other.
Recently Dunsters Farm have upped their staff training offering, including partnering with the Growth Company & Mantra learning for our drivers & warehouse staff, support for 3 apprenticeship roles and a recent collaboration with Hopwood Hall, has allowed the business to offer online training opportunities to Managers, Supervisors and the wider team.
Melanie Lee, Stock Controller at Dunsters said “Recent training initiatives at Dunsters has meant I’ve had chance to develop professionally. This month, I completed my Level 2 in Warehousing & Storage Principles, a great addition to my skillset and CV!”
All of these commitments have led to membership status for Dunsters Farm, however we won’t be stopping there, the senior team continue to develop new ways of supporting their staff team, including a new collaboration with Able Futures, to offer Access to Work Mental Health Support Services.
